The general presentation of these performances is studied according to the place of representation and the architectural possibilities which it offers. In general, the frontal scene/public report/ratio is eliminated with the profit from an INSTALLATION on the surface available.

On a basic level which could be that of an anatomical board of the Encyclopaedia of Diderot, these machines are installed in order to reconstitute an overall body.

 

The taker of sounds

It captures the sounds of the machines by a choice of three different processes: cell, direct or micro catch. The selected sounds are retransmitted on line by radio wave towards a sampler. The musicians isolate the sound matter which interests them then allot it in the digital keyboards. It then becomes possible to play on keyboard a sound of machine heard in room a few seconds before and to accompany it. The musicians complete a work of "pure" improvisation since the matter even of the sounds which they will treat their remainder unknown factor until the last moment.

 

In repetitions, the musicians are prepared on principles of setting in situation. Each machine is initially analyzed in order to seize exactly the various stages which characterize it:

 sound structuring: setting in space, evolution of movements etc. The report/ratio at time: duration of each movement, accelerations, pauses, silences etc. The constitution of the sounds: frequencies etc. The nature of the sounds: struck, rubbed, gripped etc.

 According to these principles, the required objective will be a sound prolongation of the machine which they accompany in correspondence.

Sensitive sensors are laid out on a body. This one, through its movements, will start a program of sounds referring to parts of sound anatomie.Une study of frequencies determines each sound:


long and low registers for the basin.
courts and strident for the head.
amplification of breathings for the mouth.
infra-low for the belly.

The "Sensors" are placed in the center of the installation referring, by the parts of the body chosen, with each machine represented. They personify "the overall body".
